Details
Pressing the Escape key in the search field of
chrome://browser/content/aboutconfig/aboutconfig.html causes some
action to be run in the background, highlighted on macOS by the
scroll bar activating.
Pressing Escape twice in rapid succession causes all content in the
document to disappear for a brief amount of time. A blank page is
shown instead.
Pressing Escape with an empty search field should be idempotent,
i.e. not have any effect.

Thanks for filing the bug! It's P5 since it's just a cosmetic enhancement and doesn't affect functionality, but could be fixed and if possible should have a dedicated regression test.

This should be fixed by bug 1524779, since pressing ESC will return to the empty page.
