User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/66.0.3359.170 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

I launched Firefox Nightly, latest version. I closed tabs at the end of the tab line (Adblock Plus has a settings problem because of the new session settings of Firefox Nghtly), then went to activate a tab close to the begin of the tab line. The error happens right then.

NOTE: the same error happens whatever tabs are opened first, in whatever order - eventually FFN will show that empty page for each tab at one point. Sometimes sooner, sometimes later.

Actual results:

I believe it is a problem with the rendering of the window that shows the tab content (web page): an empty page comes instead just with a Loading Circle in its center. From that moment on, any tab i open shows me the same empty window with that rotating circle. See the attached 5 screenshots combined into one file).

Expected results:

Instead of that empty window, activating a tab show correctly display its contens inside the tab window.

I couldn't reproduce this issue with Adblock plus, the latest nightly on Window 7

Version 67.0a1
Build ID 20190205023948
Update Channel nightly
User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:67.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/67.0

Placing this under Firefox: Extension Comparability so someone can look into this.

Component: Untriaged → Extension Compatibility

Each time FFN crashes that way, I also get the option to send a report to the FF team, and do that, hinting to this bug number.

Can you still reproduce this bug?

I am having this issue with my website, not sure what is the problem, Just says can't connect

Redirect a needinfo that is pending on an inactive user to the triage owner.
:rpl, since the bug has recent activity, could you have a look please?

Closing this issue as incomplete:

  • Based on the screenshots originally attached to this issue the tabs were stuck on the loading spinner, which suggests that the top level webpage web request may have been suspended by the extension (ABP based on the comments from the original reporter) and never resumed.

  • Unfortunately the amount of details in this bug doesn't allow to pinpoint if at that time the issue was triggered by an issue on the extension side or a bug on the Firefox or WebExtensions API side.

  • The most recent comment is comment 10, but it doesn't provide enough details to be able to determine if the issue was actually the same as the one originally reported (Just says can't connect does actually suggest that the tab may have not been stuck on the "tab loading spinner" and so it is not unlikely it may not be the same issue).

To :vipulsharga:

if you can gather some more precise details to aid a proper investigation about the issue you wanted to report (in particular "steps to reproduce", and "expected vs actual behaviors", possibly with also attaching screenshot if relevant or helpful to better understand what is the issue you are experiencing), feel free to open a new bugzilla issue to report the issue you briefly mentioned in comment 10.
