Details

Affected versions

  • Nightly 67.0a1 (20190131093752)
  • Firefox 66.0b3 (20190128143734)
  • Firefox 65.0 build2 (20190124174741)

Affected platforms

  • Windows 10 x64
  • Ubuntu 18.04
  • macOS 10.11.6

Steps to reproduce

  1. Launch Firefox and go to https://mail.google.com.
  2. Login with valid credentials.
  3. Click “Compose” to compose a new email.
  4. Paste a long string in the email body (e.g. this link “https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=150510”) until the vertical scrollbar from the “New message” window appears.
  5. Type random text at the end of the pasted text until the horizontal scrollbar appears.

Expected result

  • One (or no) horizontal scrollbar appears.

Actual result

Regression range

  • I tried to search for a regression but with no luck because the issue is reproducible all the way back to Firefox 36.0a1 (2014-11-02) - this is the last version of Firefox that can display the compose window .

Additional notes

  • I investigated this behaviour on Chrome and I noticed that no horizontal scrollbar appears in the compose window regardless how long the inserted string is.
