User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:67.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/67.0
Steps to reproduce:
Set a theme, using 'install theme' button on https://addons.mozilla.org/ (theme in question, my own, using Firefox colors https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/plum-cr%C3%A8me/?src=search). The theme was reset to default after a while
Actual results:
While using Firefox Nighly, the theme reset 5-10 minutes after being set to a custom one. The theme was not reset after a browser restart, it was reset while I was using the browser. Other notes -- I have webrender enabled
Expected results:
The theme should have remained the same indefinitely until I set it to a different one

Hi myles.putnam,
I installed the theme you provided on the latest Nightly 67.0a1 (2019-02-11) (64-bit) on a new profile and waited around 10-15 minutes while surfing around on the web. The theme did not reset in my case. I also enabled webrender to make sure its the same setup as yours.
Do you have any other addons installed or special config settings? Can you please try this out once more on a new profile and with safe mode? Create a new profile and just add the theme you mentioned, please tell me if it will get reset.
Here are some useful links:
Safe mode: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode.
New Clean Profile: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles
Looking forward for your results, thanks!

Hi Timea, I did discover a way to trigger it. I found that it's related to the Firefox Color extension. Steps to reproduce:
-Install Firefox color https://color.firefox.com/
-Make a random theme and install it
-Trigger the bug. I have seen this happen when browsing for a while, and I've seen it when pulling a tab off the row of tabs to make a new window
Thanks,
myles

Tried to reproduce but didn't manage with Color Firefox.
Is this reproducible only with themes created via Color Firefox or any other firefox theme has the same behavior?

Hello,
Tried to reproduce the bug by installing the Firefox color :https://color.firefox.com/, after that I changed the browser theme by installing any other theme from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/themes or https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/plum-cr%C3%A8me/?src=search). After opening a new Firefox window (CTRL +N) the theme resets to Firefox color extension. can you confirm that this is the issue described here or the issue is that browser theme resets to Firefox Default theme?

(Clearing the NI so I can set it again.)
While we can have someone look at FF Color, we still need confirmation that this is the issue being reported.

This sounds like https://github.com/mozilla/FirefoxColor/issues/302 -- which is what #c4 describes. If this is the issue, it's because FF Color is an extension that sets the browser theming (so it is, more or less, a dynamic theme, though in the case of FF Color, it's configurable).
So the questions are:
- When you say it "resets" -- do you mean to the browser default theme, or to whatever FF Color is set to? (same question as in #c4)
- Does this only occur when creating a new window (either tearing a tab off or explicitly creating from Ctrl N)?

This also happened to me with the current stable version (66.0). I installed the cat girl theme, the Eevee theme & the Sylveon theme. After system reboot (or sometimes after restarting Firefox), the theme resets to the default.

In my case, I don't use Firefox color.
