I can confirm this still occurs on tablet layout, I'm unable to set Firefox as default browser.

Browser / Version: Firefox Nightly 210317 (🦎 88.0a1-20210313094300), Firefox Focus 8.13.1 (🦎 86.0-20210222141601)
Operating System: Huawei MediaPad T5 (Android 8.0.0) - 1920 x 1200 pixels, 16:10 ratio (~224 ppi density)

I don't think the webcompat team can do anything here. That seems to be at Android level.
