User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; Win64; x64; rv:65.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/65.0

Steps to reproduce:

Installed new version of TB. Tried to add a dictionary for my language (even though I thought I had downloaded a 'fully localised' version).

Actual results:

No dictionary was installed. I was prompted to install one. When I said I would like to install one, a new tab appeared, but it remained blank until I closed the prompt window. Then, after I tried to install a language pack - only to learn that it was incompatible with my version of TB - I decided to return to the page where I could install the dictionary. But there was no back button and so no easy way to return to the page.

Expected results:

The tab showing the installable dictionary should have had content drawn before I closed the popup window. Also, I should have easily been able to return from the failed language pack installation to the dictionary install page. Also, 'fully localised' should mean fully localised.

Well, in general the workflow is OK. I clicked on "Download More Dictionaried", I got take to a page with lots of dictionaries, I chose "Catalan" and installed it.

Mileage may vary if the dictionary is incompatible for some reason, as the Green and Hebrew dictionaries were for a while.

Language packs are different to dictionaries. Language packs mostly ship without dictionaries for licensing reasons.

Andrei, is there any action we need to take here? For me this is a "works for me".

As far as I can tell this is just a grab bag of UI issues with dictionary installation.

  1. Tab doesn't load content after clicking 'download more dictionaries' until after you close the options window. Either clicking that should close the options window, or we should somehow make the tab load, not sure if that's easy, I'm guessing there's a good reason why it doesn't load while the options window is open.

  2. No back button. This is a general UI issue with the addon manager. Affects lots of pages.

Dictionaries themselves install just fine the UI is just a bit obtuse. Up to you if you think these are worth filing/fixing but they should be filed separately, multi-issue UI bugs are pretty useless.

I do think they are both relatively minor, the back button issue is the bigger of the two but neither one actually prevents installation.

We have general bugs regarding back navigation. Are any applicable here to the addon manager?

I'f not we could make this bug about the back button and you can file a new bug for #1

I'd suggest to close this and open dedicated bugs for targeted UI fixes of that section.
Also, the UI drastically changed in the new preferences, and the major issue I think is the lack of aback button, which already has a dedicated bug.

This is no longer an issue with TB91.
