On image/* URLs, and perhaps text/plain and others, view source should be greyed out on the menu. Currently trying to use it gives the bogus MIME type helper app bug, which is a seperate issue. No point in even allowing it to get that far though.

WFM on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows 2000; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/2003051512 but not on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows 2000; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030518 Mozilla Firebird/0.6 (see bug 206176) Jeremy, can you test this again and mark it FIXED (if you happen to find the appropriate checkin) or WORKSFORME (if you don't find it).
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030516 Mozilla Firebird/0.6 opens a view source window showing the binary image data now. Is this the desired behavior?
No it isn't, but since this seems to be a Firebird-only issue, this is covered in bug 206176. I meant testing this in Mozilla Navigator, where the "View Page Source"-option is disabled (greyed out) here, when you try to view the source of an image file. But since you are on Linux, this could be different there, so please test this again and resolve this issue, if this works on Linux as well as it does on Windows.
