Moz. Ver: 2002053012 System: winXP - AMD XP 1600+ CPU - 512 MB RAM - UDMA 100 HDD's ------------------------- ok, some days ago i've downloaded an installed the 1.0 release of mozilla. All works fine no problems @ all. I've using mozilla sione 0.98 without such problems. Ok the last days moz. runs good without any problem. But this morning i clickt on the moz icon an whooops whats that it's load and load and load and swap arount my HDD. Hmm after 1 minute waiting mozilla is loaded (strange enought) ok hmm but now i can't do anything the entire browser is frozen. Ok next step shut down the task and restart ist. Hmm same problem again the browser freezes and take 90+% of CPU power. Hmm ok next step i've shuting down ALL other programm tasks and try again. Nope, same problem again. Ok now it's time for a reboot. After windows was up again the first programm i've tried is moz. *hrr* but the same "freeze" problem occures again and again. At the moment i can't use Mozilla cause it freezes up completly. Attached here an Screenshot of my SystemRessources (TaskManager) -> http://www.solariz.de/stuff/snap00025.jpg cause iv'e using a german windows here a short translation of the Content of this screenshot: Benutzername = Username CPU-... = CPU use CPU-Zeit = CPU Time Speicherauslastung = Memory used Virtueller Speicher = Virtual Memory Greetz Marco PS: Pleeeaaasee help. currently i must use MSIE.. *wahrg* help help help...
++ update ++ I've tryed to install the latest release ( 2002061104 ) but the error continues. I've cant use mozilla ;(
Keywords: hang
++ update #2 ++ Ok, it's not easy to me to give up but now ;( I've tryed the following: Cleaned up my system comletly of ALL mozilla entrys: -unsinstall -delete folder -delete all registry entrys manualy -search for all files containing mozilla an deleted them after that i've rebootet and installed the latest nightly build ( 2002061808 ) After moz. was installed and launched the same **** problem occures ;( now i realy don't now what to do next... i am giving up ;(
++ UPDATE #3 ++ *hrr* strange things... I've tried now some hours ago again and found a fix now all worls fine again. What have i done ? 1. Start mozilla 2. wait until its completly loaded (cause of the high mozilla cpu load this takes about one full minute) 3. pressed F9 to disable the sidebar 4. klicked on a link in the linkbar (step 3 & 4 was realy slow cause of the high cpu load caused by mozilla) 5. waited for site loaded 6. closed mozilla completly (incl. quicklaunch) 7. restart mozilla now it seems to work. Maybe its an problem of the Menue (XUL ?!?) engine ? because during this bug i can't click any interface in the menue oder sidebar. No klick animation or event happends. only the CPU usage grows temporary after each klick. I hope you can find the bug and fix it.
I never saw this on my win2k system and we can't fix those bugs if we can't reproduce it.. :-( and this is no blocker even if it would still hang...

In comment 2, did you remove (or at least move out of sight of mozilla) your user directory? If you have customized your sidebar and after reinstalling mozilla, it was still customized, you did not remove your user directory. This is usually in your Windows Profile, under the folder (your profile dir)/Application Data/Mozilla/Profiles (the names may be different under the German version). If you had removed that folder and still experienced the problem, then ignore my comment.
@tim: Yes i'Ve allready tried this.
reporter (Marco): can you still reproduce this bug with a recent build of mozilla (for example, 1.1beta)? if so, please comment again with details. if not, please resolve this bug as WORKSFORME. thanks.
I had a similar problem with Mozilla 1.1 today on Win98SE, 256MB. Started Mozilla and it froze during the splash screen. I couldn't check for CPU usage or anything else though, but I will if this occurs again.
no response from reporter, marking WFM. if reporter, or someone else, can reproduce this with a recent build of mozilla, please reopen and give details.
