I sometimes see complaints from users that the default browser prompt is seen as "desperate" and intrusive.

This could be improved by making it a bit more opt in like prompts for user studies and sending crash reports in Firefox.
Chrome also does something similar -- see attached screenshot.
Basically, stop making this a dialog that pops up on start, and make it something that appears above or below content on the first window that opens in Firefox.
