Details

Very frequently in #firefox, and looks like other channels, may users (all?) are getting dropped with "Ping timeout: 121 seconds" and then users immediately start rejoining which eventually causes the channel to lock down because too many users are joining at once. Most of the users involved are folks I recognise and are normally quite stable.

Seems like maybe the server's network connection is flakey?

We had a network maintenance in the MDC1 datacenter[1] earlier today that caused clients to disconnect and reconnect. Shall keep the bug open for a day or two more to report any further issues.

Severity: major → normal

I can't reach irc.mozilla.org (or hg.mozilla.org for that matter) from home, while I can from a server in AWS, which is indicative of some routing problems.

Scrap that, I have other non-Mozilla networking issues.
