We need more detail here. Which version are you using? Which dictionaries do you have installed (names and versions).
For me, spellcheck in the subject works in TB 60.5.2 and TB 66 beta 2.
Hi,
Sorry, vs. 60.4.0
How do I find dictionaries?
Doesn't it just work like the spell check in the body area?
Thanks

Hmm, I'm using TB 60.5.2 and spellcheck does work in the subject. Yes, it should just work like in the body area when you compose a message.
You can check dictionaries in "Tools > Add-ons, Dictionaries". Are you using an English/US version of TB?
: (
So why isn't it working for me?
There is no dictionary in add-ons. I never installed one there.
Do I have to?
Yes English is my mother tongue : ) Although I wouldn't even know where to find what language version of TB I'm using.
Thanks Jorg

Looks like you're based in the US and would be using Thunderbird with a build-in en-US dictionary.
That should show up on when you click on the down-arrow of the "Spelling" button.
So what exactly is the symptom? You start typing the subject, and spellingg mmistakess aree noot flaggged? But they are in the body? Do you use any add-ons?
Ok, yes, it says English (US)
Correct, it doesn't tell me it's misspelled.
Yes, in the body it works fine.

Well, you should try with add-ons disabled, see Help menu. I'd bet you a beer that the behaviour is caused by the "Subject Manager" add-on. You can also disable it manually in "Tools > Add-ons".
We get many reports where add-ons cause malfunctions and we have to refer all those reports to the respective add-on authors.
LOL, I don't drink, let alone a beer & you are RIGHT!!!!
Just terrible.
Can you get them to fix it?
It would be much appreciated, since sometimes they don't listen to me, like I'm having issues with another add-on & the developer won't respond to my e-mails.
And no, there's no other option to replace that one with.
Thanks a ton Jorg.

Thanks for letting us know. All I can do is close the bug and hope you can get onto the add-on author. Looks like he/she has a few maintained add-ons, so there's hope. P.S.: I don't drink either :-)

Here's what the author said...
"No it's not possible for me to fix it, it's a limit of TB, not of the addon.
Regards,"
So I'm stuck in the middle while you guys blame one another : (

We ship the product, and the add-on author breaks it with this add-on, who's to blame? TB works without the add-on, so any modification we're not liable for.
That's like you have a car, take it to a tuning shop and they break it. Then you go back to Ford, Chevrolet, BMW, VW or whoever else?
If the add-on author wants to get in contact with us so we can help him, that's fine.
