Steps to reproduce:
T-bird version: 60.5.1 (32-bit)
In TB, I saw one unread message listed in the lower-right corner, but did not see any unread messages in my TB inbox. When I checked the Gmail.com web interface, I saw one unread message dated (Fri, Aug 17, 2018, 4:28 AM). I have no idea how long it's been in my inbox.
? Why does this message NOT appear in my TB inbox ?
FILES (ZIPPED):
- THUNDERBIRD - Total=11, Unread=1 [INVISIBLE].jpg
- GMAIL-WEB - Total=11, Unread=1 [visible].jpg
- About US - How a black man used the n-word to take on the KKK [page 1 of 18].pdf
= THUNDERBIRD - Total=11, Unread=1 [INVISIBLE].zip

After I read (& printed & attached page 1 of) the 'problem' unread message ... NOW T-Bird shows NO unread messages, BUT ... TB says "Total=12" but only shows 11 messages in the TB inbox pane; GMAIL-WEB shows 12 messages in the inbox.

This is the raw-text of page-1 of the 'problem' email message -- including all full headers.

Reporter, I'm not sure looking at the "invisible" .jpg but is there an empty placeholder where the missing unread message should be at the bottom? If you click on that whitespace, does the message display?
The message header you attached seems OK. But if something is missing in the header or the format is off, the message may not display correctly. If you still have the problem message, could you save and attach the complete message (.eml file) and I will try dragging it to my gmail on tb and see what happens. (But not sure it will help. I dragged in the page-1 attachment above and it displayed OK.)
Thanks.

Gene Smith --
I just searched (via Thunderbird & via Gmail web) for a message with "How a black man used the n-word" in the subject; found nothing. That was 8 months ago.
Your reference to -- "invisible" .jpg -- makes me wonder if you are referring to another later problem report I made about some -- "invisible" images -- in certain email messages. I can't find any record of this -- "invisible" images -- problem in my Bugzilla dashboard. It may have been closed because the problem did not occur when others viewed the message[s] that were/are causing me the problem. -mr

Mike, I'm referring to the file in your .zip attachment above. It is a two screenshots where the message was visible in tb and not visible (actually two .jpg files).
Anyhow, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. If you see the problem again, re-post here. But for now, I will close the bug.

Gene Smith --
See Bug 1545708 for a better explanation of this problem, and Bug 1590257 for a TB enhancement request related to the "Repair Folder" function.
Thanks for closing this bug.
