Hey Kirk, I'm getting a recurring update that never seems to apply off oak. Also, I get prompted to elevate as well. I wonder if this is something funny with running an oak nightly of a sign of something generally going wrong. Here's the update logging.

This might be weirdness in going from 65 to 67 on oak, not sure. Looks like there's a file missing in the install the updater expects to be there.

I am seeing some installation errors that are unrelated to BITS. The bit where it prints

AUS:SVC Downloader:_selectPatch - BITS failed. Falling back to alternate download mechanism

Is indicating that a BITS download previously occurred, but the update was not successful.

I see in there an error 58 (SERVICE_COULD_NOT_IMPERSONATE) and an error 6 (READ_ERROR). Both seem to be occurring during staging/installation, which means that the download logs don't really provide much information about what is actually going wrong. Could you provide your update log? I would also like to see active-update.xml.

This is still erroring out for me, appears to be this missing xul.dll.sig file that oak isn't generating. I also can't seem to get elevated without a prompt.

Oak is generating the xul.dll.sig file based on the latest build
https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/latest-oak/firefox-67.0a1.en-US.win64.installer.exe

The problem is more likely due to the client side update code changes not being 100% yet. Also, Oak currently doesn't have the client side changes required to update using BITS. They were backed out on Sunday and bytesized can provide more detail.
