As a longer term goal, I’d like to gradually try reducing the email notifications (CC) dependence and removing the related UI elements, so people can work more efficiently. You might remember my BzDeck client that suggested a self-contained, productive, personalized app concept. The large enhancements include:

  • Personalized Inbox: Users should be getting a list of unread bug threads. My Dashboard already provides some queries, but we need a 2-pane thread + bug UI like email client, messaging app, Jira or BzDeck for faster navigation. This will give users an idea of “what should I do today?” or “what happened while I was away?”
  • All Unreads View: Have you seen this on Slack? Bugzilla needs this.
  • Notification Centre: Currently flag requests (needinfo, review, feedback) are displayed in the dropdown, but @ mentions, new assignments, etc. should also be displayed. (BzDeck issue #79)
  • Quick Search : Users should be able to search bugs from the search bar, not in their email client (that’s me) (Bug 1472565)
  • Smart Timeline: Bugs have to be updated realtime.

There are many more things to do.
