Steps to reproduce:
I added a button with class "plain".
Actual results:
The button was added, but without the dropdown marker.
Expected results:
The button should get a drop down marker as on windows/linux.
The reason for that is, than mac is not using the dropdownmarker at all:
https://searchfox.org/comm-central/source/mozilla/toolkit/themes/osx/global/button.css#56
Compared to linux:
https://searchfox.org/comm-central/source/mozilla/toolkit/themes/linux/global/button.css#48
In case of plain, the button does not get the dropdown marker on mac. I propose to remove the dropdown marker only if not plain is set as well.
Manually overriding this by a custom css
.button-menu-dropmarker {
-moz-appearance: toolbarbutton-dropdown;
display: inline;
}
fixed it for me, so it is realy just a css issue.

You should move this bug to toolkit as you point to toolkit code and not comm-central code. But I doubt that this bug will not be closed as invalid because this isn't used in the tree.

oh, ok, for me it looked like c-c as it is below that folder in searchfox. Moved it to toolkit/themes, better?

Not used in tree, only by my XUL based add-on, which is not using it as well any more. Let's close this.
