When you click/pick/choose an @alias offer (an @alias with an empty search string), it's put in the input, and we start a new search so that only the @alias is shown in the popup. However, the popup closes and then reopens due to the new search. We should make the popup stay open in this case. Bug 1535188 makes this more noticeable.
