DNS over HTTPS Experiment 6 - investigation impact of ECS (location hint) information with DNS
We are running an experiment to determine if transfer times for data downloaded from a CDN endpoint are effectively the same when traffic is routed through DoH, or through a person’s “native DNS.” We will retrieve a resource from Facebook, if a login cookie is present on an opted-in system. We are planning to do this experiment in the Release channel, to 1% of the population in the US, en-US locale. We’re going to test three scenarios: use regular DNS, use DOH without ECS information (geographic info), and use DOH with ECS information.
