The Bookmark properties dialog and library view should have a field for the folder location, ideally editable for ability to move the bookmark

When you click on properties, you already know where the bookmark is, unless it's the result of a query (like recent bookmarks).
I agree it may be useful to show the bookmark path somehow, though I am not sure it should be editable, there are better ways to move bookmarks than a modal dialog.

Unfortunately we can't do this atm due to architectural limitations.

User doesn't know where it is if Properties view is opened from the bookmarks context menu.

I wonder what are those.

I suggested in the https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1595286 a code could be borrowed just from "Edit Bookmark" (Cntrl+D), which is used when in desktop Firefox browser one clicks a filled bookmark-star.

From 1595286: "This feature request could be fulfilled just borrowing code from "Edit Bookmark" to the Properties of a bookmark. "

When webpage has been moved, or removed, and one finds a bookmark for it from Bookmark-Search, it is impossible to know what is the folder of the bookmark, unless going to CLI tools. When I filed 1595286, use case was I wanted to bookmark some new page, and remembered I had previous bookmark about similar issue. I found the bookmark by text search, but the link didn't work anymore and therefore I couldn't know in what folder I had filed that bookmark.

On Linux I don't find a Properties item in the context menu on bookmarks.

When searching for bookmarks (where this request would be most useful) the properties are viewed by clicking on the bookmark in the search results.

This is now "Edit Bookmark", only shown when you're outside of the library, since the Library view has the opportunity to edit the bookmark within the window.

I am almost hesistant to call this a feature because it is such an integral function to managing bookmarks. A bookmark's folder location is of paramount importance and cripples a user's efficient without it.

Just for a frame of reference, for many years I used All-in-One-Sidebar, Go Parent Folder and Show Parent Folder. My decades of bookmarks were curated using Firefox and these simple, reliable add-ons, and were neatly and logically arranged in folders. I could search and go directly to the folder containing the specific bookmark. I could see that specific bookmark in the context of all folders, and I could add, change, delete, move that specific bookmark. Transitioning to the current FF, I found the Library (ctrl-shift-o) to be the most efficient option available. I am assuming that the Library is not in the Graveyard.

Whether accessing "Edit Bookmark" via the Addressbar, the Library, or the menu, it would be helpful to the end user if the UI was consistent. By consistent I mean in features, fields and actions.

When I first used the Library, I expected to see some relationship between the left-side, right- side, and bottom details. For example, when I type in the Search textbox and then scroll through the bookmarks results list on the right-side, that the selected item on the left-side would move and the bottom details would change. The bottom details do change, but there is no folder Location field. An alternative action would be to right-click a bookmark in the results list on the right-side and select an item like "Go to Folder/Bookmarkr", which would position the selected item on the left-side.

Working with the Library, I just discovered on the right-click context menu, "Show in Folder".

When clicking "Show in Folder", at first glance, it isn't clear what the user is looking at.

Nothing visual happens on the left-side. But scrolling up and down, the user will see that the folder has been selected.

And on the right-side, it looks like the contents of the folder is being displayed from the top. But again, if the user scrolls down they will see the selected bookmark.

The good

• A folder can be found, albeit in a multi-step process.

The not so good

• The left-side is not positioned to the selected folder.
• The right-side is not positioned to the selected bookmark.
• The folder name does not appear in the details at the bottom.
• The right-click context menu "Show in Folder" isn't always present. It seems to appear only during a bookmark search. There is no textual or visual indicator that the right-side is in a "different mode", "Search Mode" vs "Folder Mode" (my terminology), so right-clicking a bookmark on the right-side should always produce the same right-click context menu.
