Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/60.0

Steps to reproduce:

Browsed a random web page.

Actual results:

The page loads but it's not possible to figure out how long time it will take before the whole page is finished.

Expected results:

Firefox for Android displays a thin progress bar to each window while the page is still loading. I think this progress bar should be inbuilt in Firefox as well.

Hi reporter,

Thank you for taking the time to add this report.

I am going to add this to Core: Widget component for an advised input and I am going to mark it as an enhancement proposal as you would like to have the progress bar inbuilt rather than an add-on that is already available.

If this is not the proper component for this enhancement proposal, please feel free to change it to a more appropriate one.

Severity: normal → enhancement
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Component: Untriaged → Widget
Ever confirmed: true
Product: Firefox → Core

Thank you Paul.

I'd like to add my support: the current loading indicator – in the favicon on the tab – is invisible to me in practice because of limits of my vision. It is also an important cue to what is happening, and I value the WebExtension referenced greatly as it does make the page load progress visible.

The primary reason I would like to see this in core, either as-is, or (re)using the address bar to show the progress bar, is security related. Given the addon currently requires "access my data on all sites" permissions to operate, it is another extension that could be subverted as previous popular tools (eg: Stylish, 28 addons in Aug 2018, mega.nz, etc) have been purchased, or hacked, abusively.
