Affected versions

  • 66.0.1

Affected platforms

  • Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 7

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install a Firefox - acer build;
  2. Perform update;
  3. Access about:addons

Expected result

  • The language section is displayed;

Actual result

  • the language pack seems to not be prepared for update;

Regression range

  • issues started to reproduce with update from Firefox 62;

Additional notes

  • see this link for a more detail list with results;
  • updating from versions prior to the mentioned one do not cause this issue;
  • the locale does not appear to have an influence over it;
  • executing the test with an installed or unzipped version has the same issue;
  • tests executed on 2 workstations, dcicas helped with the second check.

So looking at this further, the issue is that the acer_distribution.zip has unzipped language packs so it won't work properly in Firefox 62.

To recreate the Acer install for 62, you need to place properly named XPI files in the distribution/extensions directory.

I'll create a new version of my package for Firefox 62.

I've updated the documentation and added a new package. Please let me know what you think.

:cfogel, could you take another look at this one?

The updates are in order.
As per the current test session (link) for 66.0.3 this issue was no longer encountered with the updated(62) files.

Closing the issue with WFM because of this.
