Paul, can you reproduce this problem with a recent mozilla trunk build?
I can't...
(What build were you using, anyway?)
What exactly do you mean with "copy and paste the title and the url"? Copy from
where, paste to where?

I don't remember well what exactly I did.
What I ment to say was:
1st i've copied the the title of a page and pasted it into subject field.
alt+tab
2nd i've copied the url and pasted it into the body.
then I realised that the Window's title was not in it's place.
I suspect it was a weird character in the text pasted inside the Subject field.
I know I was using the build which was released as Mozilla 1.0.0 (on official
site). I don't know the build date. But was the Mozilla 1.0 first release.
Right now I am using Netscape 7.0 [ Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1;
en-US; rv:1.0.1) Gecko/20020823 Netscape/7.0 ].
I've tested again. The same thing.
Go to: http://nem.aas.ro/ and select with mouse and copy the folowing
text: "Nemetschek AG," which is between <b> and <b>. In front of it (viewing
the source code there is no other character whatsoever.
I did noticed that this behaves only IF when selecting from left to right or
from right to left, AND the mouse pointer on the left of the text is a Normal
Select, NOT Text Select (see windows -> control panel -> mouse -> pointers to
see what I am talking about.). The mouse pointer turns into Normal Select only
when the mouse is off the td in which the Nemetschek AG sits, so, off the text
zone.
I am guessing when doing that it selects too a new line character. And I think
that new line in the Subject field screws the Window's title. As you can see
in the capture there is that character between Compose: and Nemetscheck (the
new line character which differes from PC and UNIX new line characters).
Although, when having this text copied in the subject field, going to start of
the raw (still inside the subject field - compose window) and pressing the UP
arrow I find a new and blank line, and my actually subject "Neme..." goes down
(hidden).
That for sure tells me that there is a new line character which was not
properly checked by the engine.
Hope I did light the situation over the bug and not screwed it more than it
was.
Please, try testing it as I've described above.

Ok, thanks for your detailed answer.
I just tried with yesterdays trunk build, but also with branch builds 1.0.0 and
1.0.2 with classic and modern theme on Win2k.
The result was everytime the same: there was a small vertical bar as first
letter of the pasted text. Probably you are right: a newline.
But it did not affect the position of the title bar text or its height.
Maybe that's because of our different charsets or Windows versions.
I searched for quite a while for another bug about such behaviour, but could not
find one.
Do you have a recent mozilla version installed where you can test it again?

I doubt that there is about charset. Although, my regional settings are set to
Romanian, Mozilla/Netscape's default charset is Western European (ISO-8859-1)
(for composing & stuff). The romanian charset is Eastern European (ISO-8859-2
and the newest one ISO-8859-15 that has the euro in it). But those charsets
are almost identical.
But, I may be wrong. I'll download in the morning the latest mozilla (stable)
as latest night built to see if it behaves. I do believe that will behave the
same. It's a weird bug and worths of more digging rather setting it as W4M.
I'll be back with comments tomorrow.

I've tested with Mozilla 1.2.0.2002101612
Same behaviour, but, this time I've noticed that when doing the same I was
also selecting the rest of the table's content from above the text selected
(that because, of course, I got off the td/tr/table area).
So, this build it lets me know when I am selecting images and blank row (tr /
td) and anything else.
Still, looks like a bug, but we now know why.

No matter how much of the site I copy, the pasted subject stays in its line.
Paul, did you change your Windows system font for window title bars?
The font looks like mine, but then, the sign before "Nemetschek" in your title
bar is a sqare, which is different from my thick vertical bar.
I'm not sure the mail window frontend is the right place for this. Sure, it
happens there, but it might happen with other Mozilla windows, too. Just tried
the composer, but it cuts off leading newlines.
OTOH after you paste it, you can scroll up and down the subject and that does
not make much of a sense, so MailNews could still do something about it.
Maybe someone using WinXP should try to reproduce this (see comment #3).

Paul Dorneanu: Is this still an issue for you with 1.3 or 1.4?
The web page cited no longer as the text "Nemetschek AG" on the front page; I
tried copying another piece of bolded text, but did not see your problem
(Win2000, 1.3 Final, Orbit theme)

=>Invalid, due to lack of response from reporter.
Paul Dorneanu, if this bug is still a problem for you and you have a current
testcase, please feel free to reopen the bug.
