Affected versions:
Firefox Nightly 68.0a1 (2019-03-26)

Affected platforms:
Windows 7/10
Mac OS 10.13
Ubuntu 16.04

Steps to reproduce:

  • Launch Firefox Nightly and sign in with a sync account
  • Press Ctrl + L to focus the URL bar
  • Press Tab and use keyboard arrows to navigate to the sync avatar icon
  • Press space to open the doorhanger
  • Place the mouse cursor over one of the options (to highlight it)
  • Navigate in the doorhanger using up/down arrows

Expected result:
The highlight should be displayed only for the items focused by using keyboard navigation.

Actual result:
Both options focused by keyboard navigation and cursor are highlighted.

Notes:
This is reproducible for the Library doorhanger as well.

Not sure how serious this really is, but if there's an obvious way we could address it, it might be worth doing. I know we took explicit steps to avoid some of this in the URL bar dropdown...

Just to be super clear, this is not a regression caused by toolbar keyboard navigation, right? As in, this is not new in Firefox 67?

No, it is not new in Firefox 67. It can be reproduced in 66 as well using the Library button.

Thanks. I expect that fixing this would require adding a lot of complexity to our keyboard navigation and mouse hover styling. The severity is also pretty low as this will only result in minor confusion for the user.

I believe this is fixed.
