Request Description
An upcoming feature on our roadmap is send tab. It allows users to send a tab from their mobile or laptop to their TV, however, the feature requires users to log in to Firefox on both devices.

Questions to answer:

  • How many FFTV users have Firefox accounts
  • Will users go through the pain of logging in on their TV to get access to the send tab feature?
  • If not, what additional value could we provide to get users to log in to their account (passwords?)

Deadline
Account log in is planned for Q2. Send tab is planned for start of Q3.

Initial research should be done early Q2 to make sure we're on the right path before we implementing log in.

(1 = High 2 = Medium, 3 = Low): 1/2

Priority Level Description

  • Supports team OKR in Q2 to release account log in
  • Send tab is our big bet to increase MAU (supporting Firefox KPI to increase non-desktop MAU)
  • Supports the company goal to increase accounts MAU

Hey Gemma, in the initial schedule Heather had for Q2, this work was going to be done in May. Since it had to be pushed back, we're moving ahead with send tab & account log in assuming the answer was yes. We still want to do some experimentation on asking users to log in, but I think it's slightly different goals than this initial request, so I will log a new bug. This can be closed

Will not have time before launch. May a/b test if time. Closing bug.
