Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:66.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/66.0

Steps to reproduce:

Installed Feedly Notifier add-on and logged in with my feedly.com account.

Actual results:

This add-on shows a toolbar icon with a badge number of unread articles. When i press on an article in its tooltip window it opens a new tab, even if a blank tab is already opened (not reusing a blank tab).

Expected results:

It should reuse a blank tab. Some add-ons work ok though (like Distill Web Monitor). So maybe add-on should use some other method of opening an URL. But this issue also happens when opening a few bookmarks at once or when a link is opened from an external application (like a mail client). So something is also wrong in Firefox.

Duplicate of bug 320989?

Kind of. But we already have separate tickets for bookmarks and external apps. Unless all of them are combined. I don't want one condition (add-on based in this case) to be missed.

I was able to reproduce the mentioned behavior on Windows 10 using the latest Nightly and Firefox release build.

"add-on based" isn't really a condition as far as the relevant Firefox code is concerned.
