Brief Description of the request (required):

Participation in the Firefox Pioneer program is currently mediated by an add-on that ships via the experiments pipeline. That add-on engages a request for participation with the client including a privacy policy and explanation of the Pioneer program. If the prompt is accepted, another add-on is installed which is subsequently used as an indicator of successful opt-in and used for targeting in all other Pioneer studies.

Business purpose for this request (required):

The Pioneer cohort feeds several downstream product development initiatives and provides unique insight into the browsing activity of a small subset of opt-in participants. Continued investment in this research initiative is among the 2019 operational OKRs for 2019.

Requested timelines for the request or how this fits into roadmaps or critical decisions (required):

Relaunch of the pioneer enrollment add-on is expected inside of April 2019.
