When starting mozilla on an XP Pro system with IE and OfficeXP installed, I
get:

Configuration Warning
An error occured reading the startup configuration file. Please contact your
administrator.
line 101: SyntaxError: unterminated string literal. user_pref
(:timebomb.first_launch_tim

The system will not remember any settings made to the browser or email client.
did you manually select your platform?

Reporter, your prefs.js file is corrupt.

>(:timebomb.first_launch_tim

OK, but why? I installed, and uninstalled the program, and downloaded 1.1
just to have a different version (corrupt installer??)..

I deleted everything under "C:\Documents and Settings\~\Mozilla" and restarted
Mozilla, and it appears to have recreated it ok. and it is remembering my
settings now.

Hard to say. The line in question:
user_pref(:timebomb.first_launch_tim

Should have looked something like:
user_pref("timebomb.first_launch_time","<some time value>");

If yours wasn't the only report like this I've seen, I would suspect the
timebomb code, but seems more likely that something just hiccupped...
