It looks that Google hangout was calling the play() before we gave the site the camera or microphone permission, so that the media element which was used to receive audio from client side was blocked and never started.

Hi, Adam,

Could you help me contact google and ask them to fix this issue from their site?
They should handle the rejected play promise and request play again after user gives the site camera or microphone permission.

Thank you!

Nils will reach out to the Hangouts team

We've contacted with google hangout team, they will start to have a fix on their side. So I am going to close this bug, because this issue is website's internal issue, not firefox's.
