User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:65.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/65.0

Steps to reproduce:

Visiting a website that has a lot of media, like images.

Actual results:

Causes Firefox 66.0.2 to become increasingly laggy over time and using more memory and CPU. To the point that Firefox becomes too slow to use. This is with a fresh install, extensions disabled.

Expected results:

Should operate like previous versions. Downgrading to 65.0.2 fixes the issue.

Hi Matt. I am trying to reproduce your issue but I could not. I need some more information:

  1. Which website do you use to reproduce this issue?
  2. How much time are you scrolling until Firefox becomes unusable or difficult to use?
  3. What hardware do you have? What processor/RAM?
  4. Could you please also extract a memory log after reproducing the issue?
How to: Reproduce the issue, then go to the "about:memory" page amd click the "Measure and save" button, save the log and attach it to the bug.

Thank you for your contribution!

Apparently, I thought extensions were disabled, but they weren't. Due to the recent FF issue of disabling all extensions and now allowing them to update (now fixed), I was forced to upgrade to the latest FF and do some more testing.

Turns out that LastPass password manager is what's causing double the memory used, and excess CPU usage as well. Once LastPass is disabled, FF works like normal.

We can mark this as resolved, and if anyone else is having issues with FF 66+ running slow while using LastPass, this is the solution until they update the extension. I will also be contacting them as well.
