Set Minimum font size to 16px
Go to https://start.fedoraproject.org/

Text is still too small.

If one sets Minimum font size to 20px, it appears bigger (but not 20px).
With same font size setting, no zoom setting, Chrome shows it bigger -- attached screens.

Can you confirm it works on Nightly? I think bug 1534494 fixed this.

Also note that in Firefox min font size doesn't affect the computed value of the font-size property, and that's a feature, since otherwise pages that use ems break heavily, see https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=937689 and such for examples.

Hi, tested with nightly firefox-68.0a1.en-US.linux-x86_64
Set the preference to min 16.
It looks exactly the same :(

Attached side by side comparison with chrome on the left, nightly on right.

I find these on Chrome better:

  • Font size setting: Medium, Large... (besides min font size)
  • Size settings apply to all fonts. In FF, one has to choose Latin or others. As an user, I don't know/care about that dropdown.

On FF, this option placed after min font size is confusing:
Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of your selections above

Pages should not be able to overwrite min font size.

I mean, this is what I see when I set on a clean profile the minimum font-size to 16px in both Chromium and Firefox, and visit that page.

Seems like the expected rendering to me, and Firefox doesn't seem to mis-honor the minimum font-size. I might be misunderstanding? Please correct me if so.

There's probably something else going on, can you reproduce it on a clean profile? If not, can you go to about:config and paste here all the font prefs so we can diagnose what's going on?

(Also, if you have suggestions about the about:preferences UI I recommend filing a different bug for that, in the Firefox -> Preferences component)

Your screenshot looks very good. I can't tell why fonts are worse in my setup (fedora 29). Using Nightly with a fresh profile.
Feel free to close this please.

No worries. FWIW I'm on rawhide, but I recall I did change my fontconfig antialising settings which are really weird on Fedora.

https://gist.github.com/finalfantasia/129cae811e02bf4551ac is roughly what I did, but I don't recall the specifics.
