Description

On loading, after start page is displayed and message box asking to set as
default browser it all becomes unresponsive and consumes huge amounts of memory
(it can be seen growing in the Task Manager) causing Windows to display virtual
memory low warnings (I have 256MB). Has to be shut down by Task Manager.

This happens in 1.1a and several earlier versions. Each time I uninstall from
control panel and install afresh.

It does not happen on a similar computer so maybe software / component conflict?

Maybe unrelated: I first installed Mozilla alongside Netscape 6 accidentally
but then uninstalled them both.

(Windows 2000 + all updates, 256MB RAM)

Reporter:
Have you installed Mozilla over an older build ?

If yes do this :
uninstall mozilla, delete all files in c:\programs\Mozilla.org\Mozilla\ (but
save your plugins) and reinstall mozilla.

If you still see the problem try "mozilla -profilemanager" and create an
additional test profile.

Yes, I did once install over an older build.

Uninstalling, deleting the files and reinstalling did not work but...

I removed the existing profile with profilemanager and created a new one which
did fix the problem. Thanks.

It's possible to repair your old profile but you deleted it already...
