The appearance of the menu is very different in Firefox than in Chrome, leading me to believe that the site is serving different content to Firefox vs. Chrome. That would then also explain why the positioning of the video links relative to the menu is different. I don't think there's a browser issue here.

Yes. With the video links in the blank area of the screenshot.
Any reason you think that wouldn't be the case?
Can you test in Responsive Design Mode?

Botond, would you mind taking another look when you have a chance.

Comment 3 matches what I see in Firefox.
Comments 7-8 match what I see in Chrome.
It sounds like you sometimes get the appearance in comments 7-8 in Firefox?

Not quite :)
Comments 7-8 were after spoofing the user agent to compare.

Ok - that seems to confirm that the site is serving different content to Firefox and Chrome.

If the problem is not the difference between comment 3 vs. comments 7-8, then I don't understand what the problem is. Please explain more.

First, may I ask how you are testing?

I was testing on an Android tablet, following the steps from comment 0.

Does the page load zoomed in or zooomed out?
Comment 18•6 years ago
|

There is a small amount of horizontal scroll range. I cannot zoom in or out.

I'm guessing user-scalable=0
Does the toolbar fit the screen?

Comment 20 should look like Comment 8 (for the most part)
The magnifying glass and hamburger are initially out of view.
"Being Viewed" in Comment 21 is out place.
The content width is too narrow.
The layout seems broken.

For me, they are not out of view. The content below that toolbar is horizontally scrollable, while the toolbar itself is not.
This is not the case in Chrome, where the toolbar and the content below it have a matching width and nothing is scrollable horizontally.
Given that we know the site is serving different content to Firefox and Chrome, that likely explains this difference as well.
"Being Viewed" in Comment 21 is out place.
I agree it looks out of place in the screenshot. I don't get that rendering though, I see "Being Viewed" to the right of the search panel.
The content width is too narrow.
If you mean the width of the search panel (such that e.g. the icons under "Intensity" overflow it a little), I suspect that's on purpose, to make space for the videos to the right of it.

I think what may have led to confusion was calling the "search panel" the menu in the description.
Apparently always enabling zoom causes the toolbar to toggle (?)
I think whats causing the horizontal overflow is "Premium Member" banner in Comment 22
I want my to rendering to look like yours :)
This was filed to figure out why it's not.
We match overfall but not entirely.
By content width I meant the browser window itself (or whatever is pushing the links down because of squeezing)

The desktop site is rendered "properly" which makes it more curious that the tablet optimized isn't

The toolbar and content below "should" have a matching width and nothing horzontally scrollable in Firefox
VIP in the Premium Member banner extends too far as evidenced by the fact it is beyond the Next button in Comment 22

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

It looks more like a layout issue that video playback. Change the component so it can be handled by the experts.

The bug has a release status flag that shows some version of Firefox is affected, thus it will be considered confirmed.
