Details
I had 3 cases of having my mail profile info destroyed in the past 2 days. I am running build 2002-06-11-04 under Win2000 but the profiles are stored on an NT server. The server's disk is mounted as O: on my PC, and the profile resides in some sub-sub-...directory of O:. I played around with quick start, and most likely it was active but mozilla was closed when it happened. I may have started mozilla inadvertently by using the "send to...mail recipeint" link in a file's context menu. I found that ALL mail profiles were gone, and mozilla prompted me to create an account and profiles. The profile directory (that where, among other files, prefs.js is stored) was still there, and so were the mail messages, but all files had been deleted from it. After restoring a backup copy of those files, the accounts were there again, until mozilla killed them the next time. Sorry I cannot be more specific today, but whenever I tried to reproduce the problem, it didn't appear. :-(

Come to think of it, it hasn't happened for me in some time either. As it happens, I think this could be related to having netscape 4.7x installed on the machine at the same time. It seems that this, and the nsnotify.exe seems to have something to do with the profile getting corrupted. Maybe it's fixed now, who can say?
