When browsing an FTP directory such as ftp.netscape.com/pub/ it would be
handy to have a sidebar that displays the ftp folder tree.

This would make it much easier to navigate between folders in an FTP server.

Dupe of bug 43873 .

This is not a dupe. It is a different matter to retrieve the FTP directory tree
from the filesystem tree. Solving bug 43873 will not necessarily solve this.

Bug 43873 actualy does concern FTP as well
"Explorer, IE, and other applications allow you to browse a tree (ftp, file,
[maybe other]) in a pane (on the left, which by coincidence is where the
sidebar lives).
We should be able to do this."

So currecting the bug would involve this bug as well.
You're right. I'm putting back the dupe tag in the meantime and let others
decide if it should be confirmed as such. Actually, I thought it was already
possible to put a folder tree in the sidebar, and the only problem was to
retrieve the FTP directory structure from the server and express it as a tree.
Could it be a dependency instead of a dupe?

REOPEN: FTP should be separate.

I guess there should be a dependency between this bug and bug 43873 but in which direction?

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9pre) Gecko/2008040301 SeaMonkey/2.0a1pre

AFAICT there's no way I can display any directory tree in the sidebar.
Resetting A+QA after long period of inactivity.
