Details
When double clicking on the PiP UI to make it full screen, you can easily see a few frames of transition as the UI is resizing its various parts while making itself fullscreen.
We used to have the same problem for normal fullscreen API and AFAIK we solved it by fading the screen to black momentarily and back to hide that this stuff is happening. It would be nice to make this a smooth transition as well.

Once bug 1543027 is fixed, double-clicking will no longer cause the PiP player to go fullscreen, so this bug will become INVALID.

It is no longer possible to fullscreen the PiP player window by double-clicking on it, so I'm going to close this one out as INVALID unless there's a way of reproducing this bug still.
