Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Android 8.0.0; Mobile; rv:68.0) Gecko/68.0 Firefox/68.0

Steps to reproduce:

visited some HTML page, and wanted to download it.

Actual results:

Could only find the save as PDF button.

Expected results:

There should be a way to download the file and store it on my cell phone in the original format, HTML.
By the way the problem is not only on HTML files but any file.
On the other hand using Chrome, I could find the download arrow button right away.

Hi,

Firefox for Android does not support this functionality, for the moment it only supports-pdf format.

I searched for an application which works with Firefox for Android and allows to save pages in HTML: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=info.nezumnek.capweb or you can try with Add-on: SingleFile - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/single-file/

Please treat this as a temporary solution until the enhancement proposal is discussed.

I will mark this issue as an Enhancement

Environment
Device: Sony Xperia Z5, (Android 7.0.0)

Summary: no download link → Fennec does not allow to download web pages in HTML

Well all I can say is being able to simply download a file and save to disk was basic to all web browsers since day 1.
Not only is it easier than going on and rendering the page downloaded, if the browser can't even download itself (.apk) that is a scary future...

Oddly Firefox is still on https://joyofandroid.com/best-android-browser-for-downloading/

And though the article seems to confuse "Downloading the browser" and "Downloading with the browser", it does say

"Downloading using Google Chrome is easy because it has a dedicated download button for you to easily download any video, pictures, or even the entire web page in one press. You can also manage your downloads within the browser, and access them also while you are offline." so it must be talking about the latter.

Anyway, be sure that downloaded files are accessible outside the browser, and have not been converted to PDF, etc. Thanks.

As in https://github.com/mozilla-tw/FirefoxLite/issues/3525#issuecomment-487860408 please add Download This File to the long press menu. Thanks.

Short tapping on a .kml downloads it.
But short tapping on a .conf opens it, with no way to download!

Hi,

For the last comment, Comment6, all the rest of the downloads are present in the Custom Menu/Tools/Downloads - there you can see the downloaded files, or in the android notification area.

I did not encounter the issue you mentioned, maybe the file was small and you have already a default app with which you open the file.

In case you encounter the same problem, please open a different ticket for it. It would help if you provide a video if it is the case.

Regards,
Diana

Thanks but I am not talking about finding the files I have downloaded.
I am talking about triggering the download action.
So if a web page ends in .conf, no matter long tap on a link to it, or short tap, all one can do is browse it. There is no way to download it.

Hi, if you still encounter the issue from comment 8, please create a different ticket and mention the device and firmware you are using.
