[Notes]:

  • This issue is reproducible after the UI of the doorhanger changed in Firefox 51. It was not reproducible using the old UI from Firefox 50.
  • After running a regression check using mozregression, it appears that one of the issues from this pushlog introduced the issue.

[Affected versions]:

  • Firefox Version 51.0a1 and above

[Affected Platforms]:

  • All Windows
  • All Mac
  • All Linux

[Steps to reproduce]:

  1. Open the browser and navigate to a website (eg. www.facebook.com).
  2. Fill the login fields and click the "Log in" button.
  3. Click anywhere on the page content to dismiss the doorhanger.
  4. Click the "Open save password message panel" button from the left of the awesomebar.
  5. Observe the behavior.

[Expected result]:

  • The doorhanger is opened and all fields are displayed.

[Actual result]:

  • The doorhanger is opened and the "Show password" checkbox and string are not displayed.

[Additional Notes]:

  • This issue is also reproducible on the "Would you like to update this login?" doorhanger.
  • Attached a screen recording of the issue.

This is an intentional behaviour change from bug 1178855 to reduce the impact of someone snooping through a user's dismissed password doorhangers.
