Details
Using Mozilla 1.0 I had my Inbox directory displayed. Was working in another
program. Returned input focus to Mozilla and noted no messages in Inbox. Folder
list still said 200+ unread messages and I recall about 400 messages total in
my Inbox. Remembering Netscape's old behaviour of rebuilding directories after
encountering a problem, I exited and reentered Mozilla. (I have the soft exit
enabled.) No change. Hard exited Mozilla and the directory then said 4 messages
unread. They were newly arrived messages and their info was correctly
displayed. Where have my 400/200 messages gone? Are they recoverable?

I found the lost data in a Mozilla-created folder called nstmp. What is
going on?

Rick, any news on this?
Bug 148700 sounds surprisingly similar...

Rick Tavan: have you had a problem with this since the original filing? If so,
have you tried more recent builds of Mozilla?
