In recent trunk, when I get the pop-up telling me a new version is available and asking me to restart now or later, and I click the button to restart now, nothing happens.

If I go to Help | About Thunderbird Daily and click the button, it restarts as expected.

Yes, I saw this yesterday too. We use the m-c updater for this. With bug 1549242 we will move to doorhanger notification and no longer use the updater which will soon be removed. Because of this there will be no fix happen on updater.
