Mozilla Mail needs an option to disable automatica loading of external content (images, Flash, etc) in email messages. I suppose a simpler fix would be to have an option to not render HTML at all in messages, but having control over external content loading would be better. Basically, it's because of those bloody vikings!

Remote image loading can be turned off for incoming mail messages. Under Edit -> Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Images, there is an option "Do not load remote images in Mail & Newsgroup messages".

There is also the "View > Message As " menu, which lets you view HTML messages as "simple HTML" (no external stuff) or plaintext.
WFM with a current CVS, Linux, as well as on XP. This has worked for quite a while now but is not in 1.0. Various fixes regarding th is and similar bugs are: bug 69529, bug 30888, bug 97055. A remaining security issue is bug 28327. Resolving as WFM.
