The cell in the left which displays the "Top News stories" has the text
overlapping within the same link. Across links, the overlap does not happen.

i thought this might be a dup of bug 148399 (fixed on trunk June 14th)
Matti: Are you sure you use a trunk build?
NT 1.0 ----> NT 3.5, mozilla 1.0 release.

Must be win32 only, I don't see the problem at home using Linux and release 1.0

I see this too, winXP, 2002070908 trunk. Screenshot in a mo...
further notes:

- The style sheet ( http://www.newscientist.com/css/win/ns/ns.css ) is being
sent
with a mime type of application/octet-stream.
- the css itself looks to be tailored for Netscape 4.x, so there may be some
duff
browser sniffing going on.

Evangelism?

ouch - never mind the articles, check out the front page - www.newscientist.com
I can't be sure, since it's all happening server-side, but I suspect that this
is caused by bad browser sniffing, which then leads to moz being fed CSS
designed for Netscape 4.x

I think they ARE including OS in their browser sniff code, so it's possible that
Linux is being fed a different style sheet again.

This is highly visible due to layout issues on their front page. Thank God they
are not a top-100 site :-)
this bug is due to a line height defined in CSS smaller than the font-size. In
/css/win/ns/ns.css :

.newshomestrap {font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:70%;
line-height:75%}
.newshomedate {font-size:70%; line-height:90%; color:#990000}

Compare it with what IE user get :
/css/win/ie/ns.css

.newshomestrap {font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:70%;
line-height: 110%}
.newshomedate {font-size:80%; color:#CC0000}

The server is also misconfigured and sends application/octet-stream instead of
text/css for stylesheets.
