[Affected versions]:

  • Firefox 68.0a1(20190502095227)

[Affected platforms]:

  • Win 7 64-bit
  • Mac OS X 10.14.1

[Prerequisites]

  • Set the preference extensions.htmlaboutaddons.enabled to true and restart the browser

[Steps to reproduce]:
1.Install an older version of an extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/to-google-translate/versions/ ).
2.Select Extensions from about:addons.
3.In Manage Your Extensions, hover over the more options menu button.
4.Click on “More Options” button.
5.Check the “Off” radio button from “Allow automatic updates”.
6.Click on the “Check for Updates” link.
7.Select “Available Updates” and observe that the update is displayed.
8.Remove the extension.
9.Re-install an older version of the extension again.
10.Check for updates again from detailed view.
11.Observe the “Available Updates” section.

[Expected results]:

  • The updates to not stack in “Available Updates” section.

[Actual results]:

  • You can stack multiple updates for the same extension.

Please see the attached video.

This no longer occurs with the HTML updates view which is landing now in bug 1535430.

The unwanted update is no longer shown, but it is still included in the count on the sidebar however. I will file for that.
