RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1549604

People

(Reporter: cmn3-fox, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13_6) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/12.1 Safari/605.1.15

Steps to reproduce:

Extensions were all disabled without any user action

Actual results:

They all disappeared in an instant

Expected results:

For folks who have whatever reason to go online with this ESR and XP, taking away their extensions, such as, for example, uBlock Origin, makes going online infinitely more dangerous. Please restore extensions in this final version of Firefox for XP as well.

I think someone is looking into a way to provide a solution for older version of Firefox, but it's also important to understand that 52, at this point, is not a supported version, and a new build can't be released. Windows XP has been unsupported for so long, that having add-ons to reduce the attack surface is hardly sufficient.

I understand this is more frustrating than helping, but I'm going to dupe this against the main bug for the Add-ons issue.

No. If someone will work on it, it will be shared across official channels.

I've been following some other threads you added me to, generating a lot of email for me, but I remain unclear on how to get/apply the patch for 52/XP to re-enable uBlock Origin, HTTPS Everywhere, and Privacy Badger. Thanks
