I have a refresh problem between tabs while downloading or playing a Quicktime
movie.
If you place the referred URL in a web page and then open it on a separate tab
at first everything looks ok. You can continue surfing create new tabs etc.
However if you click on the downloading tab (the movie) you now have the QT
movie controller in the middle of the screen for all tabs of that browser
window. That is if you go back to any of the other tabs the controller is not
painted over by the content of the page you are looking at.
I am using Mozilla 1.1a build 2002062903 on MacOSX 10.1.5 with all patches up to
June 29.
Confirmed using FizzillaCFM/2002062203.
1. Open a Navigator window and access the URL
2. Spawn another tab
When the movie starts to play in the other tab, it shows through to the second
tab. Increasing Severity and editing Summary.
Severity: normal → major
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
Summary: Refresh problem while downloading a QuickTime movie → Plug-in content showing in one tab also displays in other tabs

the URL is dead try this one:
http://aqua.nasa.gov/movies/aqua_launch_site_small.mov
I cannot reproduce it anymore with the latest 1.1. build i.e. 2002081011

I just noticed this on my build.
OSX (10.1.5), build 2002072203, QT6
It's probabally something similar to these Chimera bugs: bug 147902, bug 156583
The simple workaround it to resize the window.

I think this is related :
go to http://www.apple.com/macosx/
there is a QT countdown to macos 10.2 release.
use scrollwheel , keyboard arrows or scrollbar arrows to scroll down and then up
(easier to reproduce with scrollwheel)
result : the QT countdown is displayed several times over toolbars and even
outside the mozilla window.
i think this countdown will disepear soon but this is reproductible with many
QTs (at apple.com) . it's easier to reproduce when the QT is on top of the page.
note that i was unable to reproduce this with real movies , these are other kind
of content.
using QT 6 , mozilla 1.1b release (2002072203) , macos 10.1.5 .

I think there is a similar behavior that is causing problems. If you go the the
BBC news web site (http://news.bbc.co.uk/) There is a news ticker at the top of
the front page. Try scrolling the page down and the news ticker stays in the
page and does not scroll out of view i.e. the ticker is showing in the middle of
other content.
This is still the case with the 1.1 release (build 20020826)

Similar to bug 116766?

It looks similar but QuickTime is not a java applet. I wonder what is the common
factor. It does show with or without tabbed windows, at least on MacOSX 10.2

I think Peter is correct in that this has the same root cause as bug 116766. I
don't know about Real, but as I understand it both Java and QuickTime install
async drawing functions. These functions don't appear to be getting "turned off"
quickly enough when we switch tabs.

FWIW, I'm not seeing the tabbing problem like described in comment# 1 or bugs
referenced in Comment# 3. Tested with todays OS X Mozilla trunk build
(2002-09-23-08).

I do agree the QT bug seems to have been solved. I have tried to reproduce it
with the latest version of Mozilla on 10.2 and I cannot. I have not tried with
Chimera.
The QT Bug should be closed the BBC bug is a duplicate of bug 116766
