what is the location of QT? In the QT prefs does it show that .wav is set as a
supported mime type? When you go to Help|About Plug-ins does .wav show up under QT?

Also, there have been lots and lots of updates to the application since June,
you may want to upgrade to a more current build and see if that also helps the
problem.

wfm: with QT installed, which is the primary plug-in for .wav support, the wav
file loaded correctly. If QT is disabled (renamed the files) the PFS is displayed.
