From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; SunOS sun4u; en-US; rv:1.0.0) Gecko/20020611 BuildID: 2002061103 I am using GNOME 2.0 beta 1 (internal Solaris build) on Solaris 8. I have noticed the following behavior. If I open a compose (or reply, forward, etc) window, and put it onto a different workspace than the one that the main mail/news window resides on, and I send off the message, I go back to the workspace where the mail/news client resides, and the message I just sent is marked as "Unread." This is not a HUGE deal but a little annoying as I have to click on Sent and click the message to mark it read. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1 Open a compose window of some variety. 2.Move said window to a different workspace (or tell it to occupy all workspaces and switch to a different workspace). 3.Send the message. 4.Go back to the main window and notice that the message is marked Unread. Actual Results: Message marked as unread. Expected Results: Sent mail should always be marked as read, unless you explicitly mark it otherwise.
It's up to the clients of the mail db to mark messages read (in this case, the compose/copy to sent folder process) - the db can't guess what the client wants :-)

In that case, can you transfer this to the appropriate group?
I switched it to composition already.
Sent message copied to sent folder marked as unread?
I find it quite anoying that even the new mail indication shows up for mails that I sent a few minutes ago. Those should be marked read by default because I just wrote them! This could be achvieved by a filter rule if there was a way to limit that rule to new messages in a single folder -- which is currently not possible. I think this behaviour is platform independent. this is a duplicate of #183377 ... or the other way round
I don't understand this "workspace" concept which somehow manages to get mail send confused about whether the message is read/unread in the sent folder. Does this happen if you don't switch to a different workspace? Is it a different mozilla account or something?
I'm not sure if this is the same bug, but I randomly see some emails flagged as "Unread" in the sent mail folder. I can't see any pattern why only some emails get flagged unread while some don't. Mozilla doesn't appear to check the Sent mail folder for new messages, so it only notices that there are 5 unread messages (or whatever) in there when I start hunting back for an old sent message. I'm storing my Sent mail on a Cyrus IMAP server, perhaps it has something to do with imap?

(In reply to comment #6) > this is a duplicate of #183377 ... or the other way round Which in turn was duped to bug 162475. Misty Stanley-Jones, are you still monitoring bugmail? Still having this problem? Is it a dupe?
Emily, do you see this problem?

(In reply to comment #10) > Emily, do you see this problem? I have verified this case on X86 and SPARC machines, the OS and TB release are as follows: S10u6wos_02 + TB 2.0.0.14 Snv_93 Vermillion_95 + TB 2.0.0.14 Snv_93 Vermillion_95 + TB 3.0a2pre This problem has been fixed.
Can not reproduce this bug on Solaris 10 and OpenSolaris. Change to WFM.
