Note
- Prerequisites:
To be able to see the about:welcome page on a version where this is not implemented please go to about:config and set:
- identity.fxaccounts.autoconfig.uri to https://latest.dev.lcip.org/
- browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.fxaccounts.endpoint to https://latest.dev.lcip.org/
- Restart the browser.
Affected versions
- Tested on Nightly 69.0a1 (2019-05-23)
Affected platforms
- Tested on Windows 10
Steps to reproduce
- Go to about:welcome page
- Enter valid email account.
- Click "Continue".
- Complete the fields.
- Click "Create account"
- Click on "Continue"
- Open the email and verify the account.
- On "You did it!.." page enter a Argentinian phone number.
Expected result
- Information disclaimer for users who belong to a Country in which Phone number function is not available, also "Phone number" field shouldn't be displayed in this page until the functionality is available for that country.
Actual result
- Lack of information disclaimer for users who belong to a Country in which Phone number function is not available, the user is able to enter a phone number on the field but "invalid phone number" error message is displayed, the user will not understand what the real problem is and will keep on trying to enter a phone number.

Another thing to take into account is the case in which the user from a country where the functionality is available goes to a country that hasn't got the phone number functionality available.

This behavior is an artifact of being on a test environment and should not act the same way once deployed to stage.

(In reply to Shane Tomlinson [:stomlinson] from comment #2)
This behavior is an artifact of being on a test environment and should not act the same way once deployed to stage.
Expanding on this, on test environments the SMS form is shown to users of all countries. On stage and prod, only users
in countries for which SMS is enabled will see the SMS screen. Everyone else will see a different screen that prompts users
to install Firefox on their mobile device, only showing links to the two app stores.

This only appears on the dev/stable server for testing. Stage acts like production and you won't see an SMS screen there. Closing this as WONTFIX because this is how we want dev to function.
