Details

From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.1a+) Gecko/20020702 BuildID: 2002070204 Invoking another browser instance without closing the previous browser instance will bring up the select user profile dialog and will not let you go on until you create a new profile. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.bring up browser 2.don't close the previous instance and bring up another instance 3.Select user profile dialog will pop Expected Results: Just a new browser instance should come up
Do you mean Mozilla should create another window using the existing instance, like it does on Windows?
I believe so. I think that the behavior should be the same accross all platforms. For example even in linux, you can right mouse click on a link and say open it in a new windows and a new browser instance will open without asking for a new user profile.
you get no second instance if you open a link in a new window ! You get only a second window from the same instance. We don't allow 2 instances to run with the same profile because it can corrupt the profile. I bet you want only a new window and not a second instance and that is a dupe of bug 122698. it's invalid if you want a second instance and it's a dupe of another bug if you want a better solution to avoid the profile corruption with 2 instances *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 122698 ***
