This bug was originally reported in the Fenix issue tracker:
https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/issues/2159

Flags: needinfo?(drno)

The reporter of the Fenix bug says the Facebook video plays correctly in Chrome, so this is not a dupe of bug 1477649.

This Facebook video seeking bug affects both Fennec and Fenix+GeckoView. Is this a dupe of Facebook video bug 1518369?

The lack of network disconnection here makes this sound different.

[geckoview:fenix:m7] bugs should be priority P1.

I'm editing a bunch of GeckoView bugs. If you'd like to filter all this bugmail, search and destroy emails containing this UUID:

Priority: P2 → P1

Oops. Restoring priority P2 I accidentally reset to P1. Note, however, that the Fenix team considers this Facebook video bug a P1.

(In reply to Karl Tomlinson (:karlt) from comment #3)

The lack of network disconnection here makes this sound different.

But this Facebook video reports the same error message ("Video playback aborted due to a network error") as Facebook bug 1518369 and bug 1477649.

Priority: P1 → P2

This Fenix bug is blocked on Gecko Media. The Fenix team considers this bug a P1, but we don't know if the problem affects video sites besides Facebook.

Emily will contact the Gecko Media team.

I believe this is the same issue as bug 1566572, where we started the investigation.

I'll leave this open until we have a fix and verify that these are the same issues.

Fenix would like this issue fixed as part of it's Media Enhancement work in Q2.
