Steps to reproduce
1- Download from release archive the 57.0.4-win64-fr
2- modify the update the channel (to release-cdntest)
3- Log in to Sync.
4- Update the version to 67.0.1 .

Actual result
Build 63.0 (it) updates to 67.0.1 and WNP shows https://www.mozilla.org/it/firefox/67.0.1/whatsnew/?oldversion=63.0 without the purple footer floaring over the page content.

Expected result
For users of any locales excluding [de, en-CA, en-GB, en-US, fr] the page will look like this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1U0V1oI_IkFtCUp2QT8ZG-9zxad_7Qb29/view?usp=sharing with a persistent purple footer that will float over other page content (example of footer floating: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Ca74q3-uvJ7vxzofmFZea4lFz_d1EqJZ/view)

Virginia, in your steps to reproduce you wrote 57.0.4-win64-fr but the summary is for it

Also, while you are QA'ing please check if you can reproduce bug 1556480 for fr and en-GB.

In your steps to reproduce you also specified that you downloaded not only the French build but also 57.0.4 but the url you wrote that was opened shows that you tested with 63.0

If the only problem is the web page not displaying properly either the web page that was specified by releng is incorrect or the web page for IT is incorrect. Either way, this is not a problem with application update.

Hi Robert,

I was updating the bug and testing the result in Windows 10 (which is also reproducible).

Sorry the confusion, I made a mistake in the steps. This is when updating from build 63.0-linux-x86_64-it to 67.0.1, the WNP doesn't show the purple banner.

This is the correct behavior, users with IT set as their lang will see the 67.0 content. The Trailhead version of WNP for this release, 67.0.1 has been localized from EN to FR and DE only (we don't want to overburden the community for this fleeting moment).

To address the original stated issue above - that floating banner contains a CTA for users to subscribe to emails, which aren't available in IT, so the banner isn't shown to those users.
