Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:67.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/67.0

Steps to reproduce:

Stopped using Firefox on the phone by locking the phone and / or used another app, having firefox still running in the background. I did not close it with the task overview from android.
This happens about twice a day, and I have to kill it using the app details menu from the settings menu of my phone.
It started some days ago, after the last app update.

Actual results:

When opening Firefox again, I can't load any pages. The progress bar is stuck at about 10%. This happens if I use a new Tab, same Tab, entering the URL manually, using bookmarks or coming from another app.

Expected results:

It should just load the page without killing the app

Hello, thanks for your report.
I tried to reproduce your issue on the latest Nightly but without any success. I let the app in the background for more than 2h with different pages opened.
Devices:

  • Samsung Galaxy S8 (Android 9);
  • Motorola Moto G6 (Android 8);
  • Nokia 6 (Android 7.1.1).

Can you try with the latest version of Nightly? Also, what device/android did you use?
I'll wait for your updates, thanks.

Hi,

I'm using Pixel XL 1st Gen with the latest Android 9 and patch from 5th June.

When I just reinstalled the App, everything worked fine, until I installed the uBlock origin extension.
I completely forgot it, so I did not mention it in the first place.

I've removed it again, and see if it works now.

I'm not sure if this is still a Mozilla Bug then or if I should contact the developer of uBlock.

Thanks,
Daniel

Thank you for the extra information.
Please note that I tried to reproduce this issue with different devices: Samsung Galaxy Note 9(Android 8.1.0), Google Pixel XL(Android Q Beta 4), Google Pixel 3 XL(Android 9), Samsung Galaxy S10+(Android 9) latest patch but I couldn't reproduce it.
Note that on all devices I installed uBlock origin extension.
Are you logged in when reproducing this issue?
Can you provide few websites that you are visiting when this issue occurs?(before adding FF to background).

Thanks,
Andrei
